About the Episode
Today we a chat with Minnesota Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance, they have fought for and restored civil rights for law abiding gun owners for over a quarter century. Also we will chat with Pink Pistols Twin Cities which is a gun group for the LGBT communities and allies, based in the twin cities of Minneapolis and St Paul, MN. We will also travel to University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley, Brownsville they want to talk about campus carry. ….. Our call in number is 512-643-5483 or 512-643-LIVE Come And Talk IT!!! But first…….. The New York Times, supposedly the standard for newspapers, ran a story this week that was entirely based on a deeply flawed and highly unscientific article from the Violence Policy Center. This group is arguably the most radical gun control organization in America, with a clear political agenda, but the Times contributor treats this information as unquestionable fact.
In a glaring example of “fudging the numbers,” this study by the VPC counts all deaths related to any CPL holder…regardless of whether or not a gun is involved! All this is done in the name of science to say that concealed carry is dangerous rather than protective.
Let’s be clear: a CPL does not impact a person’s legal right to possess weapons that aren’t handguns, does not impact whether or not they can have weapons in the home, and offers no tactical advantage of any sort in just about every situation. It also does not make the CPL holder more or less likely to commit suicide.
The vast majority of truly academic, peer-reviewed studies on CPL have concluded that it cannot be shown to lead to an increase in homicides or suicides. According to the Texas DPS, Texas CPL holders commit crimes at 20% the rate that the general population does. In Michigan, pistol license holders are almost three times less likely to commit suicide than the general population. More than 150 US college campuses have in an average period of 5 years (think 1500 semesters) allowed concealed carry in campus buildings, with no report of any assault, suicide, or accidental death. These are the facts, and they are undisputed.
Here are some more facts: The NY Times doesn’t want you to have guns. They don’t like guns. They don’t like people who own guns.
So much for an unbiased, agenda-less media.
