There was another shooting in the north St. Louis area this week. A police officer shot and killed another black resident in Berkeley. This was met with another large, violent protest from the community.
Statistics compiled by the USDJ and the Census reveal that more shootings by police officers in areas that have strong anti-gun laws and sentiments. The liberal West coast and the liberal Northeast both have the highest concentrations of police shootings, along with major cities in the Midwest such as Chicago and St. Louis.
Speaking of less guns and more crime, an anti-gun filmmaker made a pseudo-public service announcement against guns. A student is shown, taking his parents’ gun, not taking proper safety precautions to ensure that the gun isn’t loaded or the safety on, and puts it in his bag along with other items.
In other silly liberal news, NYPD arrested a man with a shotgun and several handguns and body armor. The man had been overheard saying he was out to kill some cops that day. The arrest was billed as a police force stopping an “arsenal.” While we’re glad that no officers were killed and that the criminal was apprehended, we shouldn’t get carried away here. A few guns and one man do not constitute an arsenal.
Finally, we have one of the strangest defensive shootings we ever heard of to report. In Ohio this week, a teenager drew a gun on a concealed carrier. The teen missed a limited release of Air Jordan sneakers and sought to take them from the carrier at gunpoint. That teen is now dead, and his friends are in custody. This is perhaps the silliest reason we’ve ever heard of for turning a gun on another human being, but we’ll keep our eye out for others.
