About the Episode
Has everyone heard about Cecil the lion? If you haven’t, what rock are you living under?
I mean really: the alphabet soup that is the liberal media has spent an inordinate amount of time covering this four-legged beast. To make a long story short, an American dentist paid a lot of money to go and hunt a protected lion in Africa. The dentist that killed him did so illegally allegedly.
It’s sad, no doubt. And certainly illegal.
But is this a bigger story than the possibility of Planned Parenthood harvesting fetal parts?
I’m going to go with no.
Now let’s be clear: the videos released with this information were not from news organizations. These videos were released by anti-abortion groups with the targeted purpose of discrediting Planned Parenthood. The validity of these claims by these groups has yet to be proven, and I’m not passing any judgment until I have all the facts.
And herein lies the problem. When the media refuse to focus on real stories, we as a public can’t learn the truth. And I, for one, think that if a national organization is accused of anything major of any sort it should be a major media story for as long as it takes to uncover the real story.
The media are concerned not with the stories they are telling but the money they are making. They run the most sensationalist stories to get the highest ratings. This model allows them to forego any lengthy investigation or real journalism.
This means that the public is less informed than they ever have been. And it’s only getting worse.
We should demand more of our news networks. We should demand more of our reporters. Until then, get used to learning everything about Cecil the lion. That’s all we’ll hear about until the next media cash cow comes along. As always more guns means equals less crime: go out and buy your gun.
