Remember when America made things?
Remember when an American car was top of the line in luxury and craft? Remember when we made computers and clothes, when we planted our fruits and vegetables in the spring and harvested them in the fall?
Many of you won’t, because this information isn’t found on Facebook. It isn’t the story we tell ourselves anymore. America: the greatest country on Earth…because why? We stopped finding reasons to make that true and just assumed that it was so.
Now, America outsources its manufacturing, a good portion of its jobs, hell, even its banking can be outsourced if you’re a millionaire. Our fruits are flown in from Argentina and Spain and Chile and Mexico and everywhere else where they have people willing to do the hard work that made us so great, so successful.
Listen, in the real world, you don’t get trophies for participating. If you want to pussyfoot through life without ever putting in the effort to get you from point A to point B, don’t expect to ever leave point A. You, not your parents, not the government, not anyone but you can change your situation. Take some responsibility! Life isn’t always going to work out, even if you do everything right, but you’ll be better off for trying than living life afraid to get your hands a little dirty.
That’s what gun ownership is all about for me. It’s taking control of the things I can control. That’s the only way to handle a gun: in perfect control. Every time I hold a gun it is a symbolic reminder to me and those around me that I am the master of my fate, and the captain of my soul.
So to all those out there who get their news on Facebook, who never worked a dirty job, who never learned math without a calculator: Buck up! Stand tall! And remember More Guns equal Less Crime….go and buy yourself a gun! You’ve been listening to Come and Talk It, with Michael Cargill.
